#107   Taj, a baby giraffe, was born in Harpursville, NY on April 15, 2017. He was 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighed 129 pounds.

On July 27, 2017, a little more than 3 months after he was born, Taj was standing 8 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed 350 lbs.

On September 4th Taj is now standing over 9 feet tall and is almost 500 pounds.

Fascinating Fact: Giraffes are now listed as ‘vulnerable to extinction’ on the IUCN Red List. With only less than 100,000 giraffe remaining in the wild, there are more than four times the number of African elephant in Africa (over 400,000 African elephant versus less than 100,000 giraffe)
