#76 Chad
hiked up the Beehive trail in Acadia National Park. The trail was 1.2 miles up
and consisted of very steep ladders and rocks and ended at a lake. This part of
the hike took him 40 minutes. Once he got to the lake, he decided to take the
Bowl Trail back down which was .3 miles longer than the beehive. The Bowl was
much flatter and he was able to hike down it twice as fast. Halfway down the
Bowl Trail, Chad's foot stuck in between 2 rocks and he spent 6 minutes trying
to get it out. How long
did Chad's hike take in total?
Fascinating fact: Acadia
National Park encompasses most of Mount Desert Island, and several
smaller islands, with a total of 47,452 acres of land. East of
the Mississippi River, Acadia NP was the first National Park to have been
established. Originally the park was named Sieur de Monts National
Monument in 1916.
