If 6 of the same sized cylindrical cans are arranged standing up in a 3 by 2 array (the long side fits three cans perfectly, but the shorter side has some empty space with 2 cans), what is the total amount of empty space left over on the tray(including space in between the cans, using inches squared)?

Fascinating fact:  I got my inspiration for Campbell's soup from the 1962 painting of the 32 Campbell's soup cans by Andy Warhol that my family and I saw in the MoMA.
